2) Provenza gets emotional
Provenza is always annoyed and never short of a sarcastic comment. This episode is no exception. However, the audience is able to take a quick peek behind his tough exterior when Provenza is talking to Rusty. The boy is freaking out over the fact that his therapist, Dr. Joe, might have been killed in the courtroom shooting. Provenza tells him, firm but gently, that he is not the only one having a difficult day. The LAPD lost a member, they lost a colleague, a friend, and on top of that Sharon had been forced to shoot someone. Provenza puts his hand on Rusty's cheek, his voice thick with emotion, as he tells him that he would be very grateful if he could be a source of strength for Sharon. A side of Provenza fans do not get to see all to often, but that is all the more appreciated when they do.
3) Sharon feels guilty for not feeling guilty
Every squad member of Major Crimes knows what it is like to kill someone. It is hard on you. Always. Throughout the episode the team members keep asking the Captain if she is alright. In one scene, even Provenza reaffirms her that she had no other choice but to shoot Dwight. It was rather nice to see Provenza worrying about her, considering how much he disliked her as she had taken over Major Crimes some years ago. In response to Provenza, Sharon admitted that she is more than aware that she had to shoot Dwight Darnell, but what she is struggling with is that she does not feel bad about it. What Sharon says in this scene is definitely THE quote of the episode:
"I took a human life today, and I still can't locate a single part of me that feels bad about it." - Sharon Raydor
