Siobhan and Big Mike
Siobhan Magnus grew up in a village on Cape Cod, where she was always one of the odd ones who stuck out.
“It’s a culture shock when you get here,” Magnus said. “When you grow up somewhere where you ‘go to town,’ and you have to drive into town 20 minutes away. And you get here and there are so many people, and every night there are places to go.
“And you’re not the weird person! You see people dress stranger than you and you go, ‘This is awesome!’”
(We’ll pause for the Siobhan fashion update: magenta high-top sneakers, black lace stockings in a spider web pattern, a black miniskirt with a pink tulle underskirt, and a small curved barbell through her septum.)
Michael Lynche, who says he’d been pursuing a music career in New York City for five years before “Idol,” says he felt fully prepared for Los Angeles, though less so to be apart from his wife and their baby, who was born during Hollywood Week.
“It was the longest time me and my wife had been apart in 11 years,” he said.
