Which is more important, to take endless supplementary courses, or to participate into different kinds of social activities after school? From my perspective, I tend to favor the latter one. As a result of the current examination-oriented education, many students and parents attach much importance to attending cramming school, being afraid of falling behind from others. However, most of them neglected the side effects of taking excessive supplementary courses. At the same time, they also ignored the function of social activities which is helpful to students’ growth. How many different supplementary courses their children are taking is the most talked topic among parents when they gather together. From their points, more supplementary courses their children have taken, the better their children will be. It is a great mistake. In fact, more supplementary courses put more physical and mental pressure to students, which would cause certain adverse effects. To participate into proper social activities, it would not only bring about a broader horizon to students, but also give opportunity for them to cultivate their problem identification, analysis and solving ability. Based on the above, I hold that it’s more important to participate into different kinds of social activities for students.
