姐,rent和hire好象通用吧,只是英美不同吧?看字典说的,美国习惯你说的,是这样的吗?

Rent is used to talk about paying to live in or use a
building that is owned by someone else
• We rented an apartment together.
In American English, you also rent a car or
electrical equipment
• The TV is rented.
In British English, you can use rent or hire,
but it is more usual to say that you hire a car
• You can hire a car at the airport.
还有weekend前应该加个介词吗?读起来觉得少点什么?
