Emiliana Torrini一半冰岛血统，一半意大利血统。她出生在冰岛的Reykjavik外的一个镇上，并且和她的祖母在冰岛遥远的东部野外的宽阔的乡下度过了自己的童年时光。她的少年时期是在德国和她的意大利叔叔度过的。从7岁到15岁，她进了唱诗班唱女高音部分，接着进入了歌剧学校。
