It has been a tradition for more than two millennia to plant peonies in China. The peony culture has become a distinctive component of Chinese culture. Luoyang has kept a tradition of holding a flower fair/festival celebrating the bloom of peonies for about three decades.
The Luoyang Peony Flower Festival, is held annually between April and May，when every corner of the city is decorated with blossoming peonies and the locals are always happy to introduce the unique festival to visitors. Tourists from both home and abroad come to enjoy the special event, while the locals also celebrate it in a festive mood.
Aside from the beauty of the flowers, visitors also can enjoy a light show at night, go to a temple fair or take a closer look at peony culture by readings about peonies, peony-themed concerts, poems about peonies, peony flower arranging. and peony bonsai , art exhibitions in big peony gardens, like the Sui and Tang Dynasties Relics Botanic Garden, Wangcheng Park, Xiyuan Park etc. .

Tri-colored Pottery of the Tang Dynasty
It was invented in the Tang Dynasty over 1300 years ago. Originally, there were only three colors used: red, yellow and green. Most of these relics were discovered in Luoyang, so they are called “Luoyang Sancai”.

Based on traditional pottery art, peony pottery of Luoyang created the image of vivid peony flowers. It is the combination of ancient pottery art and distinctive peony culture.
