Lindir was an elf of unknown kindred in Rivendell when Frodo met Bilbo there in The Lord of the Rings.

BiographyEdit
Lindir was a listener at one of Bilbo's poetry readings at Rivendell. He may have been a minstrel as implied by his name. After Bilbo finished reciting the Song of Eärendil, Lindir said he could not tell which parts Aragorn wrote and what parts were written by Bilbo, because all mortals seem alike to Elves.

His name might be related to the Sindarin term lind ("chant, sing").
Portrayal in adaptationsEdit
The Hobbit film trilogyEdit
In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, he is played by actor Bret McKenzie. In the film, he appears as Elrond's right hand. He is also seen greeting Thorin and Company when they arrive in Rivendell. McKenzie himself stated that he believed the two roles of Figwit and Lindir are two separate Elves, due to their different costumes, ears and hairstyles.
