The locket in HbP contained a note to the dark lord and signed R.A.B.
This thread is to speculate who R.A.B. might be and what happened to the real horcrux.
Personally I think RAB is Sirius's little brother Regulas Black. Who was killed by Voldemort for supposidly wanting to leave the Death Eaters. For me there are several things that points to Regulas Black as RAB.
1) Firstly there's the obvious initials. Regulas Black
2) The note was addressed to 'the Dark Lord' which implies that it was written by a death eater.
3) the writer of the note seems to know that his own death is imminant and Regulas Black has been dead for some 15 years in OotP.
4) In OotP Harry and the others find a heavy gold locket that no-one was able to open when they were cleaning 12 Grimmauld Place. If Regulas was unable to destroy the horcrux, it's likely he would have hidden it in his family home before he was killed.
I would love to hear if you disagree with me as to the identidy of RAB or as to the location of the locket.
