What a man experienced makes the man. There was one thing shining in my memory and I will never forget it. Though it was small, it almost shaped what I am now.
When I was a young boy, I was especially afraid of the dark. It may sound ridiculous to many people that I hadn’t walk alone at night since I was 10. I was told to walk home by myself that evening because my parents had no time to pick me up. I was freaked out and almost wanted to cry. But I went to great lengths to walk towards home. Weird and frightening ideas floated in my mind. I couldn’t help thinking that a ghost might be waiting for me at the next street corner. Eventually I saw the warm lights of my neighborhood, and my view was dimmed by tears.
I know that many of you may laugh at me. However, I’m proud of myself because I succeeded in beating my own fear and proved that I was not a coward. Through the thing, I have learned how to cheer myself up when I’m scared. And we just need to push ourselves hard until the edge. A bird shall never learn to fly with others’ help. Just do it and overcome it.

Everyone must have some unique experiences during their growth. One will gradually forget about the unpleasant things after some time, but the thing that he or she is proud of will be clearly kept in the memory forever and finally become the treasure of life.
When I was in the Dabie Mountains this April with my classmates, I made friends with the students in Nuanliu Junior High school. During the one-week social practice, I went to the school to teach them English, which really made me feel proud. When I stood in front of the blackboard, teaching them the meaning of some words as well as the use of the grammar points, the excitement arose spontaneously. Their diligence and sprit of studying made me feel that all my preparations beforehand were worthy.
In my past 18-year-old life, I have seldom realized what kind of things may be meaningful for me to devote myself to until I gave lessons there, then I found they could be the pleasure and the pride we took after helping people with all our love and patience.
