1. Pick your hotel location carefully.选择酒店位置要谨慎The location of your hotel is critical if you plan to see Broadway shows or visit museums. If you pick a hotel down by Wall Street and plan to see Broadway shows, you will have to take a cab or a long subway ride. 2. Keep away from cabs. 远离出租车They are expensive and add on a surcharge depending on the time of day. During peak hours, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., there is an additional $1 charge. At night, for 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., there is a additional $.50 charge per ride.
3. Take the Staten Island Ferry. 免费的史泰登岛渡轮If you want to see the New York City skyline for free, you can choose the Staten Island Ferry. Since 1997, the ferry has been free to everybody. This is the best travel bargain in New York City.
4. Ride the subway.选择地铁出行Ride the subway or bus for a fare of $2. The fare for an express bus ride is $5. Purchase the one day pass for $7.50 to travel all day long on one subway pass. This pass is good for unlimited subway and local bus rides from first use until 3:00 a.m. the following day. You can buy the MetroCard at MetroCard vending machines and at neighborhood stores.
