#10 is Lindsey Pavao with “Say Aah”! Is there a more memorable audition moment from The Voice than season 2′s Lindsey Pavao doing a dark and seductive take on a Trey Songz song record? The audition propelled Lindsey to early frontrunner status. I love the way Cee-Lo actually says, “aah” by the very end. Her iTunes sales were huge early on, and rightfully so. Lindsey’s studio records play like legitimate singles. I’ll just say, I never need to hear the Trey Songz version of that track ever again. Once was enough. There was always something very special about Lindsey. She has The X Factor!.. not to drag Lindsey into that torture chamber. Seriously, though. This was the path I would have liked to see CeCe Frey head down after her stellar rendition of “Sexy and I Know It” was followed by a catastrophic record of covering drippy ballads. Lindsey’s only issue competing forward in the competition was that coffeehouse-esque performers tend to get pushed to the wayside on The Voice once push comes to shove. Also, I appreciated the way Lindsey hit the ground running after leaving the show by funding her own project via Kickstarter. Needless to say, I also appreciated her half-shaved head. It takes a special kind of gal to be able to rock that and look hot. Hotter than normal, even? I said something similar about Melanie Martinez, who is an act in the same vein, but Lindsey is a contestant I can see myself keeping tabs on for a long time. “Say Aah” is on constant rotation on my iPod, and I’m hungry for more Lindsey. Also, I take back what I said about Hollie Cavanagh’s Holliepops having the best fan base name. The Pava-hos take that crown with ease!
