-Marian, I'd like to recreate the day that your image went around the world. You were 15 years old during the 1992 Olympics.

A little of everything, because at that age you do not know very well. It was a little dream; a girl’s dream...
-Yes, but I know girls who are 5 or 6 years who say 'I want to be an actress', but no one has said, but they have seen on TV ...
Yes, I loved it: theater, dance, television. Obviously, if my parents had wanted, I had not gone anywhere. But they accompanied me everywhere.
-You were born in a village in the province of Barcelona, Mongat, and your family is there; you're still closely linked to that town. During the early years of your childhood, how was your life in a town like that?
It was a small town, not a big city. But there we had everything: the beach, (the school was near the beach), the mountain, all those pretty things in Barcelona. But I have always loved the city. I would go to auditions and walk around the city. I was bored in the village.


-In fact, when you had the chance, you went alone to the city.
Yes, I was 18, and I was doing theater, and I went to the theater next door. I found a beautiful apartment in Barrio Gótico. I shared with other girls, and I went there.
-That was very common among your friends of people wanting to become an actress? Or was it unusual in that sense?
It was unusual, but for other reasons.
-For what reasons? Why be redhead?
For example ... (laughs)
-I'd like to clarify the reasons why I felt it was unusual, because I think that you were able to make a living ..
Well ... It was a joke, but if you want I'll tell you. I was unable to go to class every day, for example. That created a bit of distance between me and my classmates who have a normal life. They get out of class, they would be playing around and go home. (...) I had to go to casting.
-You had a secular education. But you were quite a believer?
I was a believer, but because I've always been a dreamer and I was out there for a time. In fact I was very interested in becoming an assistant professor of catechesis. And then I went away. I had no experience of discovering a radical way, so I stopped believing for some reason. I just spent that kind of dream.
- So what pushed you to go to Madrid?
At that time I was doing modeling jobs as well. I was 18 when people ask what career you want to pursue. I did not come to Madrid to stay. I came fairly for work. I went to see a representative and just that day they had the test for me, for the series "Al salir de clase", which was the first thing I did in the capital. But it was like rebouncing, without thinking, I had not made the decision to go to Madrid to work as an actress.
- You always had the feeling that Madrid was temporary.
Always, for many years. I've been staying there, but as ever I decided to stay, then I thought "Let's see when I ..."
- Do your parents, at any time in your life, have advised you to do otherwise? Or, conversely, do they have encouraged you to keep at it?
They neither have encouraged nor discouraged me, and I have been advised to do otherwise. I had to ride everything by myself. And my choices are fully respected. They have always believed much in me, somehow.
- It's funny, because either the parents are very supportive or otherwise try to discourage their child engaged in a profession as rare as this. What you have observed means relying on your intelligence.
It is also because you have lived. As you have to accompany him everywhere, you have known how it works. Then it seems strange entirely.
-Do you remember if you admired anyone when you little; if you had posters in your room?
Posters I had none, but if I have admired many people, of course. Working in the theater, I could see or hear almost the whole show, and I was spellbound listening to my peers. - Have you reached some point fear in this job? Has there been thoughts that led you to disturbing places from a mental standpoint, for example? Emotional imbalance?
No. When one is calm and more mature, it does not happen. It was hard for me to wear it when I was little. I created a little chaos, but it is normal. And for that you have to be very strong. (…)
-Anyway, you have got a pretty calm character. Are you zen or do you hold back?
I'm pretty quiet, I don’t like to argue. But now and then I realize it's more important not to suppress things, that is, say out loud what you’re thinking. It's not about screaming first, without reason. But it's important to say things that do not seem right.
-Do you often say what comes to your mind? It’s easier like this, saying things what you think. But you're in a world in which you must be very cautious in this regard.
I do not always say what comes to my head. However, being too cautious does not help, for example, to learn. You have to make mistakes to learn and sometimes you need someone to tell you "you're wrong." (...) You have to talk things out.
- You belong to a generation of very bright Spanish actresses. Did you feel like it’s bad luck to have so much competition?
I had some pessimistic thinking, but having so many brilliant colleagues is stimulating. I like to see the work done by others.
-Have you ever envied other actresses?
Of course.
-Healthy or unhealthy envy?
The good thing about jealousy is that you can turn it around and it is the best thing to happen. Admiring and enjoying what others do, is the best way forward.
- Do you think that by now you are where you deserve to be?
I am very happy. I have dreams, work, hope ... I'm happy, I'm calm, I enjoy my work...
- The fact that you started from very small to publicly exposed has provided you things that seem difficult to actresses, such as the nude scenes?
It was a long time ago that I did a nude scene. The last one was in "La ciudad de los prodigios", but it was not so traumatic. It was simple what I had to do. As Mario was so nervous, I relaxed. (laughs) (...)
-The shooting of these scenes always raises conflict, and there are several ways to approach it. Alex Delaiglesia told me that a naked actress arrived on set the day of the scene so that all become accustomed to seeing her so. Do you have a very relaxed attitude?
Well no, I am shy. I do not die either, because nudity is no less natural. But I try to be dressed to the end (laughs).
-Were you a very rowdy teenager? You said you're very calm.
My adolescence was a mess, very confused, not knowing what I wanted to do or how. When things happened, I was not prepared to make decisions. Things come when you want them to. I am very happy about my life and how things have happened to me. I don’t take a step if I am not prepared for it.
- Apart from the very successful series that you are working on ("Los Hombres de Paco"), what kind of aspirations do you have?

- You're the only girl in the cast. How do you feel?
So you want to take all the arms as they laugh at you in the best sense. I felt very comfortable, very wrapped ... Like a queen! It's been a real pleasure.
- How is Luisa, your character?
She's the typical girl who pursues a dream, who is not very happy with her life and doing something to improve. She wants to learn, get out and not stay locked in the village.
- You are also from Barcelona. Did the same thing which happened to her, happened to you?
Yes, absolutely. I also had it as clear as she had, with so many obstacles. But because my village is very close to Barcelona, I went back and forth all day; because I was studying in Barcelona, and it was easier for me to achieve my dreams.
- And in personality, do you resemble her?
Very. We're both very stubborn, with things very clear in our minds. So clear that sometimes I'm wrong because I think the people around me send a negative message; if I play, I want to manipulate.
- At this point, you are triumphing in film and on the small screen. Do you stop to think about your beginnings?
Yes, what happens is that I have assumed that in this world, you have a day like this, and at the same time, there are others who are less fortunate... I try not to celebrate too.
- In addition to match the second time with the director, [you are matched again with] Rodolfo Sancho, with whom you started your career in Al salir de clase.


(Smiling) Yes, we had returned to work and it has been great. We had a very good relationship because we were “siblings” back then, and this time we have a relationship without passion, more like of siblings, and that helped us a lot from that experience.
- You had you not seen him since?
Yes, but only at certain times. During the filming of the movie we had time to talk a lot and catch up. We had some conversations at the hotel where we have come to confide in each other. We met for dinner, we had stories, and gradually it became like the siblings again in Al salir de clase.
- And do you stay in touch with other co-stars of Al salir de clase?
Yes, almost all of us are in Madrid and we meet at many places; if not at a dinner, it's at a premiere. I do not maintain contact with all but with almost everyone.

It’s because back then there were not many young people series, so it is normal what we have pulled off. It was a very good school.
- Does Hollywood go through your head?
I do not think really. I don’t see myself there. Sometimes it is very difficult to conceive working here and there. I do not think ever.
- You are immersed in television, with Los hombres de Paco, and movies. Are you not planning to do theater?
I love theater, but it is hard to do right now. Television is easier to do. Film and theater are to be made in a more quiet and thoughtful manner. These two things you need to think hard to make it worthwhile.
- They say you're a shy girl.
I may on occasion have said it myself, but I think that's not the word that defines me exactly, but it would be fairer to say that I am reserved.
- How do you define yourself?
Calm and introverted I would say.
- You have also stated that it costs much anger...
More and more I get angry (laughs). But if I get upset it is because I see injustice.
- What makes you nervous?
I get nervous depending on the day, how I feel. I am very irregular. One day I get very nervous at a press conference but in another, the next day, which is more important and with more people, I don’t. In this sense I still do not know (laughs).
- Do you have a project coming up?
No. I'm still with Los hombres de Paco. I have a movie premiere, where I make a tiny but very nice appearance, but I still do not know the release date.
- How is 2008 that has just begun?
I don’t know (smile). It has just started and we'll see as it progresses.
- Marian, a dream to fulfil?
Many. Above all, to be a better person and have a good relationship with the people around me; being a righteous person.

I remember them fondly. I met new people, I just moved to Madrid. I did not come with the clear intention, at least consciously, in search of work, but to move a little, go to another site. And this was very fast, I think it was like the second day, I had a test and they called me. And the truth is, it was the first time I worked with people of my age for so long, and that was a very positive experience for me. I learned many things. There were many of us who came from different cities and who were young. I was working for the first time with people of my age who had more or less the same interests, the same passions, where we liked the same film, theater and all that. And with TV, at that time, I didn’t know many things. It was like taking a risk. Uncertainty, and yes, we enjoyed each other’s company. It was OK and intense.
What's new for the new season Silvia and Pepa?
Now there is a small crisis, but as we want and we love, our relationship will survive.
Is Silvia now completely sure of her sexual status?
Not necessarily, but it does not matter because she has found love and that is important.
And your father has already accepted you?
(Smiles) Yes, I was accepted.
Can you compare Marian to Sylvia?
In terms of relationships, such as fear, I may be similar to her. So, thanks to Pepa who is really driven, she can overcome that fear. Hopefully, I will find a Pepa in my life, or rather, a good Pepe.

Have you ever considered becoming a mother?

I do not know why but I never thought they were talking about sex. It wasn’t difficult, because it talks about sex but not the sexual spectacle. In this sense, it is not a difficult scene, I think it's all very light.
- Do you think the public thinks like you and is ready to assimilate naturally that sex scenes are told on stage?
This play is very interesting, and we talk about sex but not explicitly. It's nice because the topic is the first time, which is very important. The other day a sexologist said that if the first had not gone well, the experience could turn into traumatic. In the work we collect stories about people who had some issues, and this involves many emotions on the part of young people, or people with difficulties. Not so much the sex itself, but the stories that lie behind these people and that we can identify with.
-The human being is voyeuristic in nature, and it seems that if you talk about sex even more ...
Yes, perhaps looking at the website with all the stories is more interesting than watching the play. At the end there is an interpretation of how we imagine these people would write. It is a script written by real people.
- Is it a youth-oriented work?
It is of course not. Obviously there are older people who are very closed, and these things will not ever be spoken about. Of all these people, there is a high percentage that gets to laugh, even when they want, and just convinced. Normally things usually go wrong if the company is somewhat forced because these issues have not been treated, and then they leave a little disappointed. But in general people have been very open-minded and it is not meant to provoke.


- You think you can even serve as therapy for some couples who have lost communication on sexual matters? I say this for the humorous approach of the subject ...
Yes, certainly, because as explained the sexologist who commented you before, there are things when we see as important, especially if you have not had any problems. But if you have had a small problem, it is traumatic that can comsume your thoughts of the day, especially for men.
- In the work, oddly enough, just male actors are naked...
Yes, that is fine, especially for convenience, because cold weather (laughs). At first I went with a tank top and finally I put a shirt over it because it’s very cold in Madrid.
- The initiative began in America with a website where people explained how they did their first time. Spain has done the same with other sites. Do you think the stories are far from one side of the pond to the other?
I think the main difference is that in our case we can tell who the people come from their accents, as part of Spain where they come from. This is something that can not be done with American stories. Here it's more fun because we identify and locate more.
-They talk about sex but Mi Primera Vez is a comedy, a tale that the public does not see a lot. Has this been a major issue that you face as an actress on stage?
Yes, in some ways yes, because when I did not know how they would react to this role. But in the end I saw it of course, I was doing nothing concrete and it was an enjoyable work. In the end it is working with the body, and it trained me and seduced me and here I am (smiles).
-I did not remember you doing any comic role for an hour and a half ...
No (laughs). I had done a role in a comedy series but always playing the same character. But the truth is that I feel very comfortable, I love comedy.

Yes, it's funny. I was 15 and I called Rosa Verges, who was the artist who organized the ceremony. I’ve always liked the dance, theater and music. It was a wonderful experience, but I wasn’t interested in sports, I've never particularly liked it. But it was lovely occasion. It was an opportunity to meet and interact with many people, because we spent two weeks in a small hotel and it all happened very fast, but it was magical.
-Your television debut was the series on TV3 Laberint D'ombres, although the success came with the series Al salir de clase, from which came a batch of well-known actors now ...
Yes, it is true that this series was my first promotion at the state and media, because it was a series that had many viewers, but I must confess that it was not something premeditated. I arrived in Madrid due to personal circumstances and it was an opportunity to work with people of my age, it was the first time I did. I've never been addicted to television, and there are many things done and I sounded like a Martian. As I arrived there and they told me that this series was a production and I did not know what else. Okay, cool, for me it was just work. My requirement was for a pick or not, I never thought about the success we have.


Alternative theater while shopping ...
We can not say that something is commercial or alternative for the simple fact of whether it’s working or not. Being an alternative is not better or worse, if not different. There are things that my business is not what I like. Not because commercial is better or more beautiful. This is a show that single people would see as an alternative theater. If you put it in a large theater and that is for another public who are used to seeing easier and more commercial things. It's a easy show but not simpler. Anyone can entertain you beginning and ending with my grandmother.
A show for all audiences ...
Perfectly! It is very fun to see very serious old ladies come in, die of laughter, and it is funny. It is an opportunity to laugh in the theater, something that we’re not accustomed to, to come in and be surprised and be delighted by it. They are surprised because they see a young show they understand. That is very nice.
We all have our first time ... The first time we drive, the first time we go to the theater, the first time we have sex. How was your first time?
The truth is that I put it hard. I am a person who does so many things and I have so many activities that is almost always a first time. My first class ... I am very inquisitive, I move a lot and I have many first times for everything.
Tell me any one ...
I wish I could say, it is the first time that I am consistent.
We are in crisis, everyone knows and I think there is nothing in this life that we do not have to pay. Do we have to "****" more, because less and you can not forget these "problems"?
Well I think so. Imagine having lots of money and not to laugh. I think the main thing is to laugh at or try. Many times you have to put some on our part to make fun of others and ourselves.
Is there anything we can not laugh about in this life?
There are many mishaps that I think one can not joke about, so I think the important thing is to be thankful.
Who do you thank?
I try to look back at the good and be thankful for all that I have lived for and being alive. We are young and well.
Good and bad, do you regret anything? That is, your passage through television, leaving the TV for the theater.
